Billy's POV
We walked inside the door and immediately came face-to-face with the one person I especially didn't want to see right now, when I'm so happy.
"Dad, hi." I stuttered. "This is Joel, he's spending the night. We're gonna go up and go to sleep. We're pretty tired." I said immediately and began to walk away.
"Not so fast. I believe we have some things to talk about?" He hinted. I shrugged.
"About what happened this morning." He added.
"There isn't anything to talk about." I said sternly. He wasn't having it.
"I believe there is. Joel, You're more than welcome to make yourself at home, we won't be but a few minutes." Dad said, hinting for Joel to leave. He began to turn around but I grabbed his arm.
"Whatever you can say to me, you can say to Joel. Now go ahead, I'm listening." I told him. He sighed, but complied.
"About what your sister said this morning..." He began.
"You mean when she called me a fag?" I added. He winced.
"Yes. About that... when I said that, I didn't mean it--" He tried to tell me. Now I was the one not having it.
"Bullshit. You meant every word. You don't just say that behind my back without fucking meaning it." I spat.
"Hey! I'm still your father. Talk to me with respect, and watch the fucking cursing!" He yelled.
"That's great dad." I mumbled and sighed. "We done here?" I asked, not looking him in the eyes.
"No, actually we aren't. You're so quick to deny that you're not gay, but what about that little thing I saw when you two were outside." He asked.
"What 'little thing'?" I was confused.
"O you know. You were holding hands." He said like it was obvious.
"Oh. Umm.." I didn't know what to say. We had been caught already.
"So you did lie." He said like a smartass.
"No, I said I wasn't a fag. I never said I wasn't gay." I spat again, looking him dead in the eye. My eyes were filled with fury.
"What the hell is the difference?" He asked me back. I said nothing, but I grabbed Joel's hand and turned around. I choked back a sob and we made our way up the stairs and into my room.
I was trying so hard not to cry. I didn't want Joel to think I was weak. He gripped my hand tightly, sensing I was about to break down.
"It's okay." He said gently, turning to me. I closed my eyes and turned my head to face the floor.
"Don't worry about him." He told me. His left hand never left my right one, but he placed his other behind my head and slowly pulled my head into his chest. Then he left his hand drop to my back. That's when the first tear came. It fell onto his shirt. I knew he felt it because as soon as it hit, he lifted my hand and left it on his chest, and placed his second hand to meet the first on my back.
"It's okay, I'm here for you." He told me. Now the tears were streaming down my face freely. I was shaking, so but led me to the bed and laid me down. He was quick to take off my shoes and pants, then his own. That left us both in our boxers and tshirts. He pulled the covers up, crawled in bed with me, and covered us both us.
His hands quickly found my and his arms wrapped around me once again.
